The Galahs
Arrived: Spring 2020
Where we found them
We got our first two galahs from an owner that did not want them anymore. They basically have never liked each other, the male has the most gorgeous deep pink plumage and the female (Rose) was friendly but always seemed a bit poorly, we had her for over 2 years but in the end her sinus issues got the better of her. We were absolutely devastated by her passing as she was definitely one of the bigger characters who loved a good tickle. Since them we have rescued 5 other galahs from breeding programs, that now all live together in our larges aviary with their very own apple tree, which is a source of entertainments (theres not much bark left on it).
One of the pairs we rescued continued to breed in the aviary, they had 4 babies (Bobby, Gobby, Georgi and Bandi) which have all found new homes. Gobby and Rose are with new parents that keep in contact with us and have their won special stories. Gobby is a free flyer and Rose was born with a leg deformity so is spoilt rotten by her owner.
Care
Rose had continued care for her sinus issues, but in the end we lost her. Bandi (now Rosie) was born with a deformed leg that bent to the side, with monthly visits to the vet and specially bandaging to try and get it to set straight, we all gave up the discomfort she seemed to experience and we left her to it, she is a happy, health and very playful litlte bird that even though has a disability will not lef it get her done.
We thought she would never be able to land and perch, as soon as she learnt to fly we started training her to land, with many wobbles she finally managed it and has not looked back.
