The Lorri’s
Arrived: Spring 2020 + many babies
Where we found them
These little clowns of the bird (parrot) world definitely have the most character. While on holiday in South Africa at sanctuary in Otshorn we feel in love with these little “monsters” full of fun and love a little gig and tickle.
We purchased 6, as they are colony birds, from various people not wanting them anymore as little is known about how to care for them. Unlike other parrots these birds eat nectar and fruit so there diet and excrement is liquid. They are so mischievous they are even great at targeting you with said excrement at will. We keep them in one of our largest avairies and soon they started to breed, our rare tangerine Lorikeet and a (not so) common Lorikeet hit it off and we have had numerous unusually coloured babies from them.
Care
We have been extremely luck with our Lorikeets, with no losses due to illness. They are vey hardy and bearly even notice the colder months as they are always looking for play no matter the weather
